What we build
Custom Balloon Arches for San Diego Parties and Events
Put an arch over a doorway, a cake table or a patio opening and that spot becomes the backdrop of every photo taken that day.
Think of a balloon arch as a picture frame made of balloons. It curves over whatever matters most at your event (the front door, the dessert spread, a stage, the guest of honor) and stands on a metal frame or anchors at each end. You get the presence of a floral installation for far less money, and it reads clearly from the back of the room, in phone photos and on video.
We don't start from a catalog. We start from your date, your colors and the real space, whether that's a Pacific Beach deck, a Chula Vista backyard or a ballroom near the Gaslamp. Then we choose the balloon mix that gives the shape you want: 5-inch fillers for detail, 11-inch balloons for body, 18- and 24-inch balloons for scale, plus chrome, pearl or foil accents if you'd like some shine. We bring it, build it where it will stand and come back to take it down.
Our arches go to birthdays, baby showers, gender reveals, bridal showers and weddings, graduations, quinceañeras, Filipino debuts, military homecomings, office parties and store openings. Any celebration with an entrance, a table or a photo spot has room for one.
Arch styles
Balloon Arch Styles, From Organic to Classic Spiral
Pick the shape first and the rest of the design falls into place. Here's what each arch style does well.
Organic balloon arches
Organic arches skip the repeating pattern. Balloons of several sizes are grouped in loose, uneven clusters, so the arch looks lush and slightly wild, which is the look most people screenshot from Instagram and Pinterest. They take greenery and dried florals beautifully and suit weddings, showers and milestone birthdays. Because they need more balloons per foot than a classic arch, they cost a little more.
Classic and spiral balloon arches
Classic arches are built from tight four-balloon clusters of one size, stacked evenly along the frame. Rotate the colors cluster by cluster and you get a spiral that wraps the arch in two, three or four shades. The finish is crisp and sturdy, so school, team and company colors still look best this way: Aztec scarlet and black for an SDSU grad, or Padres brown and gold for a watch party.
Round, circle and hoop arches
A circle arch (also sold as a ring, hoop or round arch) puts balloons around part or all of a round frame. A full ring frames one person for portraits. A crescent covers one side and leaves the middle open for a neon sign or a name panel. Proposals, sweet 16s and photo-booth corners use this shape more than any other.
Square and backdrop arches
A square arch runs balloons up both sides and across the top of a rectangular frame, usually around a backdrop panel, a shimmer wall or a flower wall. The cake table gets a defined stage and the photos get a clean edge. If you'd like the arch and backdrop designed as one piece, start with our balloon backdrops.
Half and asymmetrical arches
A half arch (some decorators call it a swoop or a demi arch) climbs one side of a doorway, panel or table and stops partway across. It looks current and intentional, and since it takes fewer balloons than a full arch, it's one of the easiest ways to keep the budget in check.
Double arches
Two arches layered together, one behind the other or one nested inside the other, give a large room real depth. They suit ceremony sites, stage entrances and store openings where a single arch would look thin against the space.
Mini and tabletop arches
A tabletop arch is a small arch, usually 4 to 6 feet across, made to frame a cake table, sweetheart table, gift table or dessert spread. It's the right scale for condos in Little Italy and Hillcrest, restaurant private rooms and baby showers where every square foot is already spoken for.
Entrance and doorway arches
An entrance arch tells guests where the party is before they reach the door. We build them over front doors, garage doors, porch steps, venue entrances and storefronts. Outdoor entrance arches get weighted bases, because the afternoon sea breeze along the coast is steady enough to rock a light frame. Set balloon columns at each side for a complete entry.
Large and giant balloon arches
Large arches start at roughly 16 feet and span double doors, stages or driveways. Giant arches for store openings, school events and street fairs can stretch 25 to 40 feet using 24- and 36-inch balloons. At that size the arch becomes a custom balloon installation, planned around the site and its wind.
Balloon arches with flowers and greenery
Tuck silk or fresh flowers, eucalyptus, pampas, palm fronds or trailing greenery into the clusters and an arch turns soft and romantic. Floral arches are the go-to for bridal showers, baptisms, Mother's Day brunches and garden weddings in North County.

Sizing
Balloon Arch Sizes and the Space Each One Needs
Measure before you choose. An undersized arch disappears in photos, and an oversized one blocks the walkway.
| Arch size | Where it fits | Balloons (approx.) |
|---|---|---|
| 4–6 ft tabletop or mini arch | Cake, dessert, gift and sweetheart tables | 60–110 organic |
| 6.5–7 ft frame arch | Photo corners, single doorways, small backdrops | 90–130 organic |
| 10–12 ft arch | Front doors, patio openings, 8 ft backdrops | 150–220 organic or 60–75 classic |
| 16–20 ft arch | Double doors, stages, 10 ft backdrops | 240–360 organic or 100–130 classic |
| 25 ft and up | Store openings, school gyms, outdoor entries | Planned per site |
We measure arches along the curve, not across the floor. A 16–20 ft arch usually stands 8–9 ft tall and spans 8–10 ft at the base. Counts shift with balloon sizes and how full you want it.
How many balloons for a balloon arch? Plan on about 5–6 per foot for a classic arch of 11-inch balloons and 12–18 per foot for an organic arch, which layers 5-, 11- and 18-inch sizes. That puts a 6 ft organic arch at roughly 70–110 balloons and a 20 ft one at 240–360. Fifty balloons covers a tabletop or half arch, not a full doorway.
Pricing
How Much Does a Balloon Arch Cost in San Diego?
Most full-size arches we build come in between $225 and $550. Here's where each size starts and what moves the number.
| Arch | Starting at |
|---|---|
| Tabletop or mini arch (4–6 ft) | $195 |
| 6.5–7 ft frame arch with garland | $225 |
| Doorway arch (10–12 ft) | $310 |
| Themed welcome arch with foil accents | $340 |
| Full balloon arch (16–20 ft) | $425 |
| Double, giant and 25 ft+ arches | Custom quote |
Delivery, setup and pickup are included across our core San Diego service area. Drives past about 35 miles from central San Diego, such as Fallbrook or Julian, add a travel fee starting at $55.
What moves the price of a balloon arch:
- Length and density. Every extra foot and every fuller cluster adds balloons and build time.
- Style. Organic arches need more balloons per foot than classic or spiral arches.
- The balloon mix. Chrome, pearl, double-stuffed balloons (one inside another for a custom shade) and big 18–36 inch balloons cost more than standard latex.
- Extras. Florals, greenery, foil shapes, vinyl names, neon signs, marquee numbers and backdrop panels.
- How it stands. A freestanding frame comes with most quotes; tying an arch into a pergola, beam or venue structure takes more labor.
- Distance and timing. The county runs from the border to Camp Pendleton. A Carlsbad-to-Chula Vista drive, a sunrise install or a tight hotel dock window all count.
- Teardown. Pickup can be part of the quote, or skipped if you'd like to keep the balloons.

Colors and themes
Popular Balloon Arch Colors and Themes
Send a screenshot, the invitation or a single color, and we'll build the palette around it.
The palettes we're asked for most
- Sand, white and sage. The coastal neutral look for showers, beach-house birthdays and weddings.
- Blush, cream and gold. First birthdays, bridal showers and baby showers.
- Ocean blues and seafoam. Surf, under-the-sea and "big one" first birthdays.
- Black and gold. Milestone birthdays, retirements and New Year's Eve.
- Red, white and blue, or navy and gold. Homecomings, the 4th of July and military retirements.
- School and team colors. Grad parties and watch parties in Aztec scarlet and black, Triton blue and gold, or Padres brown and gold.
- Red and gold, marigold and magenta. Lunar New Year, Diwali and Día de los Muertos.
Themes
Character arches pair licensed foil balloons with latex in matching shades: Bluey, Minnie and Mickey, Spider-Man, Paw Patrol, Toy Story, Pokémon and Stitch come up again and again. Other local favorites are surf and luau parties, mermaids and under the sea, taco and fiesta themes, dinosaurs, "two cool" second birthdays, and hat-party arches around opening day at the Del Mar races.
Your options
Full Install, Arch Rental or a DIY Kit?
There's more than one way to get an arch into your party. Here's how the options stack up.
| Option | What's included | Choose it when |
|---|---|---|
| Full installation | Design, delivery, on-site build and pickup | The arch is the centerpiece and you'd rather not spend party morning on a ladder |
| Balloon arch rental | A finished frame arch dropped off, then collected | Small arches, photo corners and simple setups |
| Grab-and-go garland | A built garland you collect and hang | Short runs for a table or wall, or a tight budget |
| DIY balloon arch kit | Loose balloons, a decorating strip and glue dots | Tiny arches, a free afternoon and a patient helper |
Is a balloon arch easy to make? A small kit arch is a fair weekend project if you own a pump. A full organic arch is a different job: a pro crew spends one to three hours on-site, while a first attempt usually eats four to eight hours plus a second run to the store. Balloons blown up too early, or with the wrong pump, also pop, wrinkle and dull. If the arch is the main photo of the day, having it built is usually worth it.
San Diego weather
Outdoor Balloon Arches in San Diego Sun, Sea Breeze and Santa Anas
San Diego is kind to outdoor parties, but an arch outside still needs a plan for sun, wind and heat.
Mild weather fools people. Along the coast, the May Gray and June Gloom marine layer keeps mornings cool and damp, yet UV still gets through the clouds and dulls latex. Most afternoons bring a steady onshore breeze to Pacific Beach, Ocean Beach and the North County beach towns. Inland is another climate: summer days in El Cajon, Santee and Escondido often reach the 90s, and in fall the dry, gusty Santa Ana winds can carry that heat right to the shore. Heat swells the air inside a balloon until it pops, sun turns latex cloudy and matte, and dark colors absorb the most heat.
- Find shade. A covered patio, pergola, market umbrella or the shady side of the house adds hours to an outdoor arch.
- Build close to start time. On hot inland afternoons we schedule the install near party time, not first thing in the morning.
- Air-filled outside. Outdoor arches are air-filled on a frame. Helium fades fast outdoors, and Encinitas, Solana Beach and Del Mar restrict helium balloons anyway.
- Lighter shades in the sun. Whites, pastels and metallics hold up better in full sun than black or navy.
- Anchor it. Coastal and rooftop arches get weighted bases, sandbags and tie-offs so a sea breeze or a Santa Ana gust can't tip them.
- Parks have rules. City of San Diego park rules prohibit balloons and inflatables, so for a park picnic we'll plan the arch for a private patio, backyard or venue lawn instead.
Longevity
How Long Does a Balloon Arch Last?
Air-filled and indoors, an arch holds up for several days. Outside on a hot inland afternoon, count on the party itself.
| Where it stands | How long it looks good |
|---|---|
| Air-filled, indoors | Several days, often a week or longer |
| Air-filled, outside in shade near the coast | A full day, frequently into the next |
| Air-filled, outside in direct inland sun | A few hours before the latex dulls and pops |
| Helium arch or helium bouquets | Hours, unless treated to float longer |
Will my balloon arch last 4 days? Indoors and air-filled, yes. That's why we can build the evening before a morning event, and why arches for multi-day events stay inside. Can you set up a balloon arch the night before? Inside, without a problem. Outside, especially inland in summer or during a Santa Ana stretch, we build on the day.

Questions
Balloon Arches in San Diego: FAQ
What does it cost for a balloon arch?
Our arches start at $195 for a tabletop arch, $225 for a 6.5–7 ft frame arch and $425 for a full 16–20 ft arch, with delivery and installation included. Size, style, balloon count, extras and drive distance set the final number.
How long do balloon arches last?
Indoors and air-filled, several days and often more than a week. Outside in coastal shade, about a day. In direct sun on a hot inland afternoon, a few hours. Helium arches last hours unless they're treated.
How many balloons does a balloon arch take?
About 12–18 per foot for an organic arch and 5–6 per foot for a classic one. That works out to roughly 70–110 balloons for a 6 ft arch and 240–360 for a 20 ft organic arch.
Balloon arch or balloon garland: what's the difference?
A garland is the flexible strand of clustered balloons. An arch is a garland, or a run of classic clusters, mounted on a frame or anchors so it curves over something by itself. A garland can also lie along a mantel, table or wall, so every organic arch contains a garland, but not every garland becomes an arch.
Do balloon arches use helium?
Usually not. Arches are air-filled and held up by a frame, so they last longer and cost less. Helium is for floating designs and bouquets, which last hours, and Encinitas, Solana Beach and Del Mar restrict helium balloons.
Can you set up a balloon arch at a San Diego park?
City of San Diego park rules prohibit balloons and inflatables in city parks, so for a Mission Bay or Balboa Park picnic we'll suggest a nearby private patio, backyard, beach house or venue lawn instead. Homes and private venues are no problem.
Can you put a balloon arch outside in San Diego?
Yes. Outdoor arches are air-filled, weighted against the afternoon sea breeze and set in shade where possible. Inland summer heat and Santa Ana winds shorten their life, so those builds happen close to party time.
How early should I book my balloon arch?
Most dates are fine with two to four weeks' notice. Graduation weeks in May and June, Halloween and December weekends, and wedding-season Saturdays need more.
Can the arch go up the night before?
Inside, yes. An air-filled arch built the evening before looks the same in the morning. Outdoor arches go up on the day of the event.
Can you deliver a balloon arch on a military base?
Only with gate access arranged ahead of time through your sponsor and the base's visitor process, so allow extra lead time. If access can't be arranged, we can build at an off-base home or a nearby venue instead.
Is delivery and setup included?
Yes. Full-service arches are delivered, built where they'll stand and picked up afterward. Ready-made frame arches and grab-and-go garlands are available if you'd prefer to set up yourself.
Can you make an arch for guests with latex allergies?
Ask for a latex-free design. Arches, walls and backdrops can be made entirely from foil balloons, which many hospitals, schools and offices require.
